Spotlight on: Dublin Fashion – ‘& Other Stories’ SS17 Makes Landfall!

The Event:

It was a case of old world meets new at the ‘& Other Stories‘ Press Preview.

The Date: October 2016.

The Location:

Set in the uber historic surroundings of the hidden gem that is Marsh’s Library, Dublin the SS17 presentation from ‘& Other Stories‘ was right at home – nestled beautifully in a place filled with stories and legends of it’s own, perfectly in keeping with the brand ethos.

What’s to Come From & Other Stories Dublin?
Encompassing two Atelier collections & Other Stories delivers a nod to the style of Stockholm and Paris in its Atelier collections.

Paris Atelier:

Feminine and extravagant, this collection explores the decadent bourgeoisie. The look is flourishing in lavish details, rich colours and floral prints, reinventing the perception of French flair. – Philoméne Tellaroli, Accessories Designer, & Other Stories

Key elements of the collection: floral prints, embroideries and high collars – combined they deliver another chapter of boho escapism.

Stockholm Atelier:

Dress up or dress down your outfit this season with a pair of contradictory shoes. Mix casual with stiletto heels or dress down tailored pieces with soft, easy flats. Find and effortless look by playing with proportions and contrasts. – Nicole Johnson, Shoe Designer, & Other Stories

Key elements of the collection:

Shoulders are slightly dropped and waistlines are marked, punctuated with key details such as ribbons and belts that control the flow and shape of the garments.

Check out the gallery below for a closer look at some of the collections, snaps from the preview plus a look at some of my favourite picks from ‘& Other Stories‘ when it hits Grafton Street, Dublin before Christmas!

{Blacksheep Foods provided a delicious and uber healthy lunch – highly recommend this company for top notch grub!}

Maximialist Joy: the SS17 collection from the Paris Atelier features ultra feminine silhouettes highlighting an emphasis on bell sleeves and ruffles with a palette that dabbles in hues of red, blue, white and pink.

Renew Volumes: taking influence from the 1930’s, the Stockholm Atelier presents a strong and minimalistic approach to the SS17 collection and sets the stage for a contemporary silhouette with a nod to a relaxed yet chic approach to layering.

This collection places emphasises on a new approach to power dressing – a bold fresh take for the modern, working woman’s wardrobe. With the signature tailoring of & Other Stories the collection encompasses a palette of light blue, yellow, white, bright green and black.

The Accessories:

Sleek, modern ornate graphic design pieces and on-trend ultra stylish key pieces are at the heart of the accessories collection – a little bit of heaven for any wardrobe.

Decorative pieces such as brooches make an appearance alongside grandiose rings and earrings, mini bags and scarves worn as necklaces.

The Beauty of & Other Stories:

Not just offering apparel, ‘& Other Stories‘ has some seriously gorgeous beauty and makeup items as well as candles to decorate your chosen space.

The scents featured in the body care  and candle ranges are blended to perfection, unearthing some weird and wonderful treats for the senses, uniquely different pairings that somehow just work!

{My favourite scent – cannot wait to get my hands on this!}

{For the home: scent offerings from the candle collection, elegant and smell divine.}

{The colour payoff from this highlight is insane! See below for closer look…}

{Blinded by the light…stunning highlight offering from & Other Stories. #musthaves}

Spring Series: FESTIVAL FASHION EDIT! KEY PIECES feat. Penneys, H&M, Parfois and GlitznPieces.

Spring Fling!

image

With Festival Season rolling around again, these are some of my KEY PIECES that will serve you well for spring and summer and for the onslaught of what I like to call “festival season“, kicking off with Coachella (I wanna go!) this month.

That said, here’s my selection of KEY PIECES (okay it’s a bit of a wishlist too!) of the latest and greatest in Festival Fashion from Penneys (Primark), H&M Parfois and GlitznPieces.

image

Penneys (Primark) Picks:

Penneys has always been a mecca for the fashionista on a budget who wants the ultimate in style at a great price, making it easy to get festival ready and not break the bank.

image

Denim Shorts: A Festival Fashion staple, these denim ones from Penneys, are a top pick for me. Can we just take a minute to appreciate the crochet overlay on them?! Uber pretty!

Nineties fashion has had a huge impact on the fashion world recently and these knee length denim shorts (below) are reminiscent of the original (and best, in my opinion) Beverly Hills 90210 style of choice. (Side: where you a Brandon or a Dylan girl? I always went back and forth but always leaned towards Dylan…that slow, side grin and swagger, irresistible!)
Anyway, I digress…

The Crochet Top:

Wear with a pretty bralette underneath for effortless, festival fashion perfection.

image

If you’re not quite brave enough to go the daring bralette route (and let’s face it, many of us aren’t), then pair a crochet top with a simple crop top or camisole underneath…the more modest option yet still checking all of the Festival Fashion boxes!

Other key pieces from Penneys (Primark):

Kimonos & Fringing: Two Top Festival Fashion Trends.

I stepped right out of my comfort zone and invested in this fringed, sheer, monochrome kimono last year from Penneys and as you can see it can be incorporated into a more formal, summery dressed up look. I wore this look to the Irish Georgian Society’s Summer Drinks party and received so many compliments! Kimono’s to me, are an annually recycled trend when it comes to festival wear, (meaning they’re always in fashion – I’ll definitely be digging out last year’s) making them a festival staple.

image

H&M’s Festival Fashion game is especially strong this year with the launch of their 1st EVER Coachella Collection!

There’s gorgeous key pieces in this collection too guys and it’s only just been launched recently, so go get yours!

The H&M Boho Collection is also filled with lust-have pieces and has 70’s fashion influences, which is a huge trend right now.

Parfois Picks!

Boots and accessories.

image

Ankle boots are pretty much a staple when it comes to festival wear and these ones from Parfois are a must have! Pair with a denim dress/shorts/skirts, maxi dresses/skirts and let your inner style maven shine through.

image

I love a cross body bag to keep all of my essential bits and bobs with me at a festival. I’m obsessed with this Aztec-style one from Parfois.

Some Top Picks from GlitznPieces:

image

Boho Necklace in Gold. This type of statement necklace is the epitomé of Boho Chic for me when it comes to jewellery, perfect for every day and Festival Fashion. I absolutely love mine for adding a Boho Chic flair, to any look!

(Note: the necklace runs more of a golden-bronze colour than shown here.)
If you adore statement necklaces as much as me (and the next girl!), then check out the article I did on “The Statement Necklace Effect” for fashion magazine Tabitha! (Link below!)

Layering jewellery:

image

Dainty Circle Chain.

Layering necklaces and stacking bracelets are huge trends right now and from the looks of things, it’s a trend that’s here to stay!

If you fancy something a little different to a full on statement necklace then, a selection of dainty necklaces layered together can create it’s own “statement” look.

image

Flash Tatoos:

One of my favourite accessories for this Festival Season, these metallic temporary tatoos add a unique look to a Boho Chic vibe, to complete your music festival look and will definitely turn heads!

Oh and if you live in a country like Ireland (where you can experience all four seasons of weather in one day) don’t forget your wellies!
